What is FEAST?
FEAST (Food Education and Sustainability Training) is a 10-week curriculum-aligned education program for primary and high schools, which explores the issue of food waste and its environmental impact, healthy eating and easy classroom cooking.
Like any good FEAST, it’s designed to be fun, engaging and filled with good food!
Find out more about the program and how it aligns with the Australian curriculum below.
FEAST Tackles Food Waste
Australia has a problem, a food waste problem!
- 7.6 million tonnes of food is wasted every year
- Costing the economy over $36.6 billion
- 2.5 million tonnes of food waste comes from our homes
- Australian students throw away 5 million sandwiches and 3 million pieces of fruit!
- Less than 5% of children eat the right amount of fruit and vegetables
FEAST is the essential ingredient for any school putting the planet first and inspiring the next generation to become future change-makers. The program provides teachers with curriculum-aligned resources and strategies to fight food waste and promote healthy eating.

“I love teaching FEAST and educating students about food waste as they learn that although it’s a major issue they don’t need to wait until they’re older to do something about it. I watched students discover the power they have to make a positive change to our environment through the magic of yellow OzHarvest aprons!”
Mt Eliza Primary School
“I loved learning how to make all the FEAST recipes, my favourite was the Crunchy Noodle Salad! The best part was working together with my friends and then eating what we’d made!”
Mt Eliza Primary School
“It is a great program that students need to complete! The unit of work is fantastic and I will continue to use it every year!”
